Jon Cordas, PhD
Transitioning from an organizational consulting career to strategic planning at Pathways for Veterans has provided a greater sense of meaning and purpose as I live my life in service to others.
With a PhD in psychology and a Masters in sociology, I spent over thirty years worked as a consultant with clients such as the FAA, NASA, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Intel, Lockheed and General Dynamics. I helped these organizations innovate and collaborate more effectively. In addition to working with great people and great companies, I found much personal satisfaction teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in organizational leadership.
While I enjoyed helping people work together more effectively, I found a new level and clarity of purpose and meaning working in service to veterans at Pathways. I find profound satisfaction every day as I engage my passion for focusing convergences of extraordinary people with resonant values and vision. My varied roles at Pathways include:
- Coordinator of coaching programs
- Trainer for VIA Institute signature strength and mindfulness coaching
- Strategic planner and facilitator
- Project management
Karen was raised in the Monterey Bay area of Northern California and now resides in the Sierra Foothills of Rescue Ca. on 5 acres, with her two sons, two dogs, and a cat.
She was a massage therapist for 7 years, and a preschool teacher for 5 years. And for over 15 years she has studied the teachings of Wayne Dyer, Maryanne Williamson, and Ernest Holmes to name a few.
Seven years ago she started an organic community garden with her friend Dan Daniels; a two time Vietnam Vet. Enlisting the help from her Spiritual Community, they built 10 - 24ft x 4ft raised beds, with room to plant fruit trees. Growing her own food, and tending to the garden with a community of friends was a magical experience for her. She donated food monthly to "The Upper Room," who serves meals to the homeless in El Dorado County.
Her intention since then has been to go out into the surrounding communities and help others build and start growing their own organic food and promote Self Sustainability.
Pathways for Veterans Organic Farm Program is improving the health mentally, and physically for those Vets in the program. Giving them a sense of accomplishment; selling what they grow, feeding their families, and a new found love of community for the good of themselves and "Mother Earth." I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful organization.
The 30 years I spent working in Western medicine and my own extreme health issues have made it clear to me that Western medicine does not have all the answers. I understood that much of my mystery illnesses were only to be healed by looking within. My biography was now my biology and I was really the only one that was ultimately responsible for my own health and well-being.
I soon began to understand and use all the mindfulness tools that were available to help me heal my body, mind and soul. I was becoming well as a result of my encounters with growth and healing modalities like mindfulness, meditation, fitness and spirituality.
I have always been a natural coach, teacher and mentor. I now found myself inspired to share everything that I had learned and experienced with others.
Through my own experiences and witnessing healing in others, I have come to absolutely believe that we all have the potential to change and heal our own lives in ways that will create more freedom, aliveness and vitality; therefore increasing our effectiveness and impact on the entire planet!
I know that everyone can use the tools of mindfulness and create positive turning points that will then become positive tipping points giving rise to greater love, joy, connection, wealth, health and harmony…

Living the dream! I get to use all my spiritual, business development, marketing, public speaking, practitioner, management and volunteer leadership skills for Pathways for Veterans.
Earning a degree in Public Relations with a minor in Journalism from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, I spent nearly a decade in advertising working in direct mail and weekly, daily, and annual publications. In the early 90s, I joined a national security company's Silicon Valley branch, eventually tripling their revenues through marketing, business development, and sales. I’ve spent two decades in management and volunteer leadership in the security industry. I continued my professional and spiritual growth through local and international institutions; including ASIS International, International Facilities Managers Association (IFMA), InfraGard-Sacramento, Sacramento Crime Alert, Sacramento Area Region Technology Association (SARTA), 12-Step Programs, and Spiritual Center for Positive Living (SCPL, Cameron Park, California).
In 2002 both my parents passed away within weeks of each other and I found myself asking "what is my life purpose? What is it, God, you want me to do?”
“Help others," came the still small voice within. The how was never given to me...for several years it has remained unchanged "help others." I now have my vehicle to “help others” with Pathways for Veterans. This organization helps Vets AND their primary support person(s) make peace out of what were once broken pieces. I am blessed to be part of this.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE: Win/Win Solution-based Management, Spiritual Practitioner, Strategic Budgeting, Affirmative Prayer, Program Planning-Analysis-Modification, Spiritual Mind Treatment, Contract Negotiations, Business Development, Peer Mentoring & Training, CRM, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Speaking, TQM, Sigma Six, and other quality theorem.
My life experiences have taught me three things:
1) There are many paths to One God; Connect to a Higher Power of your own understanding.
2) There is no separation between any of us; we are all One.
3) Each of us is a Spark of the Divine; the truth and the power of the Universe reside within each of us.
